Scope of project was to develop BIDE’s agribusiness division through targeted agri-value chain enterprises as well as developing its farms services, which include the maintenance, rehabilitation, and operation of inoperative agricultural land offered by the landowners to BIDE for investment, a pilot project focusing on the olive value chain was assessed and project designs and business and strategic plans developed for BIDE, a US based investment company. The objective of this project was to establish and develop agri-enterprises to fill gaps in the existing agricultural value chains from farm to market and create a more conducive environment for investment. The pilot was designed to serve as a test-run for BIDE’s agricultural investment arm and was multipurpose: (1) Increasing the income generated by local farmers, thereby securing them on their land; (2) Maintaining, developing, and utilising existing agricultural land and farms to secure the land and to increase the productivity of the local agricultural sector; and (3) establish, sustain, and grow BIDE’s agri-investment unit and capacities.
